Is Hypnosis A Good ADHD Treatment?

This is key with ANY hypnosis, you or child must WANT to see results and be willing to try new things… actually TRY the new things. Kids (and adults) who do NOT want to be here will NOT benefit from the session. Simple as that.

How does it work?

Hypnosis for ADD or ADHD starts out in a similar way to most other sessions. We will begin with what is called an “Induction,” this will help slow your mind down and prepare you to learn new ways of being. As you begin to focus more on these words, you may notice that is beginning to happen now. Many of the “experts” and researchers have found that “Mindfulness Meditation” can help improve ADHD symptoms. But the very task of trying to meditate is daunting for most folks with ADHD or ADD.

For ADD and ADHD clients, the induction itself is a lesson in mindfulness that you will always be able to look forward to and recall when you need to. NEXT we will move you into the “Deepener” which is to help you enter into a deeply relaxed state. Even if you are still experiencing a few racing thoughts or some inner chatter during this time, you will still notice how much more relaxed you are in comparison to your “normal” state… and that is perfectly OK! You job is to just let the words drift into your ear drums and experience the session in any way that you happen to. There is no right or wrong here.

Then we progress into the learning phase of the session. This is where the direct and indirect suggestions about new ways of working your mind come into play. These suggestions may be hidden in stories, or they may more direct and specific depending on the current needs of the client. The beauty of hypnosis is that we are able to work on very flexible terms based on what areas need improvement at any given time in a persons life.

You may find that even during the hypnosis session your mind is wondering, you may notice that you are not paying attention or forgot what I just said… and you are not sure you are “doing it right.”  This is perfectly normal for the first few sessions until your mind begins to learn how to slow down and enter a deeper and deeper state of relaxation and learning. It is OK if this happens because the suggestions are still going in to a deep level in your amazingly complex mind. Your subconscious is who I am talking to at that time and it will be listening and learning these things you want to learn.

Hypnosis is a process that I teach you how to use for yourself. It is not something that is done “to you,” but instead it is a team effort where I am your guide into a new resource state in which we can install new “apps” if you will… new mental tools which will give you the power to overcome one challenge at a time.

As you are finishing your session, I will help you reorient to the “waking” state. As you take a couple of nice deep breaths, noticing the feeling of the air going down into your lungs, filling your cells with rejuvenating oxygen… I will remind you of the suggestions that were made and the new things that you will be able to implement immediately upon leaving the office. I will also tell you about some of the posthypnotic suggestions that were made to help your subconscious automatically remind you of the new “apps” we installed in your brain.

Typically best results are seen in 7-12 visits. Unlike the movies, you won’t be “instantly cured” using hypnosis. The fact is, many of our smoking cessation clients see success in just 2-3 visits… permanent results… like forever. So when you think about it that way, you can see why we are confident that your success in overcoming many of the challenges of your ADD or ADHD can be had within a handful of sessions.

It is also important to point out that hypnosis can work hand in hand with your doctors medical recommendations as well as a STAND ALONE approach. VERY Important Notes:

  • Make sure that you will not be interrupted by family, friends, pets, kids, trains or anything else during your scheduled time. If you need to, put a sign on your door and make sure that everyone knows not to interrupt you during this time.

  • It is best to use a headset during this session so you can hear, but speakers also work too.
  • Don’t use Skype on your cell phone, it can be choppy and drop important words. A computer or laptop works the best.
  • Comfort is important! Make sure you are able to be in comfortable chair or recliner where your body os fully supported, including your neck and head.
  • If for some reason you are disconnected, Jason will immediately try and reconnect with you 2 times and then continue your session. If that is not possible, we will simply reschedule your session.

Can hypnosis help with ballroom dancing?

From a technical standpoint… YES! Hypnosis CAN help with ballroom dancing in many ways!

Now I know this sounds a little strange to suggest that hypnosis can improve your dancing, but read on. At its core, most forms of competitive dancing are very similar to sports. Not only in the physical demands, but also in the mental game one must master to be truly competitive.

Now this isn’t specific just to ballroom dancing, all forms of dance can be enhanced using the new learning state that we create in hypnosis. In this learning state we can improve athletes performance, better students memory and test scores, even help folks quit smoking. Now imagine what we could do to improve your dancing.

Here is a personal story to give you an example:

My wife spent several years as a competitive ballroom dancer, she would go to local and national dance competitions as well. Well for the past one and half years or so she had taken a break to focus on building her practice. Sometimes we get burned out and lose our passion temporarily… she was finding it a chore so she decided to take this break.

During this hiatus, she was not taking any lessons nor was she practicing. I’m afraid I am not much of a fancy dancer myself so I wasn’t much help as a dance partner. The ways I can help become clear in a minute.

Well over the past few weeks she had been entertaining the idea of picking back up with her lessons. She missed the regular lessons and had found her passion returning. After we discussed it, she went ahead got the ball rolling.

She had wondered out loud if hypnosis could help her pick back up where she left off at her last lesson. Now keep in mind she is familiar with being “hypnotized” in the familiar way, she has been hypnotized quite a few times. So we began discussing what her needs may be once she returned to dancing.

I agreed that it would be amazing to see the results of applying some of the dynamics of my sport performance hypnosis to dance. The suggestion was made that she think about the areas where she needed improvement, that way I could tailor the hypnotic suggestions to her needs.

Over the next week, I began casually mentioning things in ways that would have her recalling successful competitions and moments of pride. Secretly I was using a method known as “conversational hypnosis” in order to have her tapping into her subconscious muscle memory and re-activating past lessons from deep inside her mind. The thing is, this was being done in everyday normal conversations rather than the traditional “hypnosis session.”

Oh and I am the only one that knew I was doing it. Did I mention that part? Anyway, Just before her first lesson I asked her to consult with her instructor about what areas she was needing to work on to get back up to speed. I also told her to just pretend that she had never taken any time off and it would all just come back to her naturally.

After coming home from her first returning lesson, she was worn out. Her instructor put her through the paces with no mercy. She asked her instructor what areas were needing attention after such a long hiatus… He said “nothing, nothing baby!”

She was amazed that even though we had not done a “ballroom dancing hypnosis session” that she was firing on all cylinders after time away. I let the cat out of the bag that she had been a victim of my secret conversational hypnosis methods. I recounted several conversations we had, pointing out the subtle suggestions and extremely powerful methods that had been used and it all became crystal clear to her…. that she had married a mad man….

No no that’s not what she thought… she was actually astounded at just how effective these subtle methods can be when used in this way for enhancing performance.

Since I knew what some of the weaker areas of her dance used to be, I was able to form the suggestions she needed to hop right back in the dance gown with a vengeance.

Stopping smoking can be hard. Really hard. We have all been there… you have had it… you want to quit so badly. You throw out the pack then stop later and buy another. You try to ration your cigarettes and “cut back”… only to go into “make up” mode smoking just as many if not more every day.

You may have tried the gums and patches, pills and gimmics, cold turkey, hard candies… it’s exhausting trying to find the solution isn’t it? I have been right where you are!

Let’s flash back… I am 15 years old and hanging out with the cool hippy chick from school… we were besties. Well she was a Camel Lights fan and eventually I tried one.

Whoah what a head rush that first smoke was! So it began… the love affair with Camel Lights. The tasty Turkish tobacco blend… The Camel Cash (remember that?)… The SMOKERS COUGH…

Well as I approached 30 years old I realized that I had been smoking cigarettes for half of my life! I could feel it too… I was getting winded… woke up with the morning phlem and cough… I wondered how long I would live!

The mortality issue crept up in mind a lot… as I am sure it does yours. I knew I had to had to quit… I had to put the cigarettes down. Plus it kept getting more and more expensive!

I tried it all… every available option just didn’t seem to help get my will power strong enough to not turn back. Sure they helped for a brief time, but then it was right back to smoking a pack or so a day.

I laughed when I saw the hypnosis CD because I had been using self hypnosis for years already to achieve my own personal goals. Sort of like self help meets the matrix.
